Rebreather Training

TDI SDI AustraliaImage Dive offers training on a variety of units depending on the divers needs and wants. We are proud to offer training on the following units Drager Ray/Dolphin, PRISM, Buddy Inpiration/Vision, KISS Sport and Classic and the Diverite Optima

The objective of the course is to train recreational divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for using SCR Rebreathers.

What do I need to start?

  • Have a minimum certification of Nitrox Diver
  • Be minimum age of 18 years

What is a Rebreather?

The rebreather course is run over 5 days of training comprising of theory 2 days pool training and 4 ocean dives. The air diluent course will qualify the diver to dive to 40m (or closest certification) using air as a diluent gas This course is a lot more demanding than other courses and the diver must have a understanding of exactly how the unit works in any conditions. A lot of emphasis is placed on the divers knowledge base and their ability to pre and post dive the unit rather than on in water skills like other courses. The Student is expected at the end of the course to be able to demonstrate excellent rebreather knowledge and to be able to be able to pre and post dive the unit competently as well as have adequate in water skills to ensure safe diving.

All CCR (Closed Circuit Rebreather) courses include absorbent gas, boat fees and rebreather rental based on one to one ratio.

Students must have an advanced nitrox certification prior to course commencement (can be included at a extra cost).

Image dive conducts regular technical dive charters where experienced divers can utilise such equipment as rebreathers for maximum depth and bottom time. Experienced and qualified dive masters are onboard to assist with any queries, gear concerns or general information sought.
