Montebello Islands Diving

The Montebello Islands are one of the Pilbara's great frontiers.

Comprised of 174 islands in the archipelago, the Monte Bello's are located 80 miles off the coast of Onslow or 120 miles from Exmouth. The islands are home to a relatively unspoiled coral reef (largely protected by sanctuary zones) ensuring large numbers of fish life and pristine corals. With 147 islands there are numerous white sand beaches and tranquil bays. Even if you don't want to dive all day you can relax and spend it on the water in your own little bay.

Trimouille Island was used as a weapons testing area in the 1950's. Three nuclear weapons were detonated on the island, sinking the HMAS Plym (1300tonne) that was anchored in the bay in 12m of water. Not much is left of the wreck as it is largely destroyed. The Islands are safe from fallout as long as we only visit the island and don't stay on them.

Scuba Diving Holidays:

The Southern Image will depart for 5 and 7 day adventures out to the Montebello archipelago. The trips will depart Exmouth allowing you to dive some of the local sites. With a 10am depart on the first day, we steam across the Exmouth gulf with a dive or two along the way at the Rosalie Shoals (weather permitting) with the night spent somewhere near by.

The second day has us starting with a dive before departing for the Montebello Archipelago. The next 3-4 days will spent diving various sites around the Island from the Wreck of the Tryall (wrecked in 1622), dive many of the coral atolls, to visiting the detonation area on Trimouille Island.

Enjoy getting away from civilization (Phones generally don't work).

We will arrive back around 4pm on the last day of your voyage.

All air fills are included and 3-4 dives per day with nitrox Eanx 32% available with prior notice(Nitrox Speciality course $150). The Southern Image now has a desalinator for unlimited showers, a bread maker to wake up to the smell of fresh bread and muffins and  a coffee machine  for one of Luke's  amzing coffee's at breakfast

Over the summer period "The Southern Image"  got some air conditioning. The wheelhouse and accommodation  can be kept at a nice cool temperature to allow  for a good nights sleep.
